Build Your School Travel Plan

We are here to help you create active transportation options for kids, including walking, biking, and neighborhood bus stops..

This web site provides simple guidelines for evaluating your school's transportation mix, identifying key individuals and organizations, setting goals and objectives and making your case for improved sidewalks, trails, crosswalks or whatever you need to get kids moving.

Each step of the way, we provide forms you can fill out, save and print. We'll suggest ways you use free online tools for file sharing, draft reports and getting public input.. We even provide online mapping tools to help you to identify priorities on the ground.

Just start at the upper left, "getting started" and proceed down the steps to "measure progress." At each step you will complete a simple form that completes a section of the plan. When you are done, file a copy and submit the documents to your school administration and the Maine Department of Transportation.
