HCPC assists Hancock County Towns in seeking state, federal and other support for local planning and development.

We are a source of information and grant preparation assistance for the Community Development Block Grant program, which is a potential funding source for community infrastructure, economic development, and housing projects. We can also help you find matching sources of funds.

Support for Local Economic Development Organizations

We provide technical assistance to local economic and community development organizations, including support to regional efforts like MDI Tomorrow, Peninsula Tomorrow and Schoodic Area Futures.

Historic Preservation
(Contact person: Jim Fisher)
We work with communities to identify and preserve historic resources. Contact us if you are interested in funding for historic places, community preservation plans, creating historic tours or procedures for registering historic properties.

Housing

We assist communities in identifying their housing needs, developing grant proprosals for housing and creating housing policies and plans.

Funding Sources:

Coalition of Hancock County Affordable Housing Groups

The HCPC sponsors quarterly meetings of the coalition of affordable housing groups from across the county.  Participants include Hancock County Habitat for Humanity, Washington Hancock Community Agency, the city of Ellsworth and representatives from groups in Stonington, Brooklin, Cranberry Isles and Mount Desert Island.   Anyone interested in housing issues in Hancock County is welcome to attend.  Contact Tom Martin (tmartin@hcpcme.org ) for information on meeting times.
